Lava International has started local manufacturing of smartphones under the Nokia and Motorola brands. This comes after Lava's strategy to strengthen the supply chain ecosystem in India. According to Lava, the partnership is strategic and thus should help both brands. Products from both brands should receive full attention and after-sales service. Lava is expecting a turnover of about Rs 300 crore this year from Rs 70 crore last year which it gets from the government and enterprise segment. Lava has been working on increasing its manufacturing capabilities for the last three years. In 2018, the company invested more than Rs 2,600 crore in its manufacturing units, to capitalize on a Rs 10,000 sub-manufacturing smartphone to expand production capacity to 21.6 crore units over the next years. Not only this, Lava also has India's first mobile device design center to boost the mobile manufacturing ecosystem in the country and attract Indian players. He has claimed an initial investment of Rs 250 crore to design budget smartphones for his brand as well as other companies. The Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) was launched by the Government of India to promote manufacturing in India and the names of the shortlisted companies have been announced. In total, a total of 16 global and domestic mobile phone and electronic component manufacturers including Lava, Micromax, Samsung are eligible for support.
