Taking a stand against the worldwide epidemic, WhatsApp on Wednesday announced the launch of the 'Coronavirus Information Hub' in association with the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and UNDP and donated USD 1 million to Pointer Institute's International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN).
Coronavirus cases are increasing all over the world and around 1,98,000 people are infected with this virus while 7,900 people have died. The messaging platform WhatsApp reported on Wednesday that WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Hub will actually provide easy and actionable guidance on whatsapp.com/coronavirus for health workers, teachers, community leaders, local government and local business people who depend on WhatsApp for interaction .
It is also being said that the site will also provide general tips for users to reduce the messaging and rumors circulating around them and provide accurate health information to people on the site.
In addition, WhatsApp is working with WHO and UNICEF to provide messaging hotlines around the world and these hotlines will provide reliable information and will be listed on the WhatsApp Coronavirus Information Hub.
As of now, WhatsApp has worked with many National Health Ministries and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in many countries such as Singapore, Israel, South Africa and Indonesia etc. to reach the right information.
